<br />I. PURPOSE
<br />
<br />To provide Department personnel with ongoing, quality training, while minimizing
<br />the amount of time deducted from their primary assignments.
<br />
<br />II. POLICY
<br />
<br />It is the policy of the Surprise Police Department to:
<br />
<br />A. Define Roll-Call Training responsibilities
<br />B. Establish Roll-Call Training times
<br />C. Establish guidelines for Roll-Call Training
<br />D. Establish presentation guidelines
<br />E. Establish documentation guidelines
<br />
<br />III. PROCEDURES
<br />
<br />A. Roll-call training will be used to supplement all other training and to keep
<br />officers current on applicable issues between in-service training sessions.
<br />B. Supervisors will be responsible for providing roll call training sessions.
<br />C. Supervisors, training personnel, and other employees with specific
<br />expertise in the area to be taught, or guest instructors, may conduct roll-
<br />call training.
<br />D. Supervisors will:
<br />
<br />1. Ensure all officers under their supervision attend roll-call training
<br />and that proper documentation is completed.
<br />2. Ensure that any officer missing training due to an extended
<br />absence (e.g., injury, FMLA, and vacation) completes the training
<br />upon return to duty.
<br />3. Contact the Training Coordinator with ideas and topics for training
<br />and/or submit material to be reviewed.
<br />
<br />E. Instructors will:
<br />
<br />1. Complete a formal lesson plan.
<br />2. Submit these plans to the Training Unit for approval no later than
<br />ten (10) days prior to the training.
<br />3. Complete all training documentation sheets.
<br />4. Upon completion of the training, return the approved lesson plan,
