<br />I. PURPOSE
<br />
<br />The purpose of this directive is to establish the rules of conduct to be followed by
<br />all members of the Surprise Police Department.
<br />
<br />II. POLICY
<br />
<br />It is the policy of the Surprise Police Department to establish rules of conduct by
<br />which all members of the Department will conduct themselves both on and off-
<br />duty.
<br />
<br />III. AUTHORITY
<br />
<br />Pursuant to the authority granted the Chief of Police, by the City of Surprise, the
<br />following rules of conduct are promulgated.
<br />
<br />IV. OBJECTIVES
<br />
<br /> A. To establish rules and regulations by which Department members will
<br />conduct themselves both on and off-duty in order to promote a
<br />professional image and establish uniformity of performance and
<br />effectiveness in law enforcement.
<br /> B. To ensure that all members have knowledge that the commission of any
<br />act or omission of any act which constitutes a violation of any of the rules
<br />and regulations, directives, policies, procedures, or orders of the
<br />Department, either written or oral, whether stated in this directive or
<br />elsewhere, will be justification for disciplinary action.

<br />V. RESPONSIBILITIES
<br />
<br />It is the responsibility of every member of the Surprise Police Department
<br />to conform to the rules of conduct.
