PURPOSE <br /> <br />The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures governing the writing and <br />issuance of all Department written directives. <br /> <br />II. POLICY <br /> <br />It is the policy of the Surprise Police Department that all directives be written and <br />issued in a consistent and uniform format in accordance with the procedures <br />contained within this policy. <br /> <br />III. DEFINITION <br /> <br />Directive A directive is any written document issued in the name of <br />the Chief of Police or designee to members of the <br />Department to establish policy, procedure, personnel <br />changes, or information of general interest. <br /> <br /> <br />IV. PROCEDURE <br /> <br />A. Any employee may propose suggestions for a directive through their chain <br /> of command, to the Chief of Police. <br />B. The Chief of Police may authorize certain individuals within management <br /> to issue specific directives. (12.2.1c) <br />C. Written directives will be prepared in the appropriate format as indicated <br /> in Section VI below. <br />D. Daily briefings will be used to discuss written directives and explain <br /> material contained in the directives. <br />E.
