PURPOSE <br /> <br />This Addendum establishes policy and procedure and identifies responsibilities <br />for the care and maintenance of all authorized firearms. <br /> <br />II. POLICY <br /> <br />It is the policy of the Surprise Police Department to reasonably care for and <br />maintain all authorized firearms. <br /> <br />III. RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />A. Department - The Surprise Police Department is responsible for: <br /> <br /> 1. Providing cleaning materials at the Surprise Police Department <br />range. <br /> 2. Conducting firearm inspections as deemed necessary. These <br />inspections will be conducted: <br /> <br />a. At the Surprise Police Department Armory. <br />b. By the Armorer or Range Master. <br />c. During inspections by a supervisor or Department firearms <br />instructor. <br />d. By the Special Assignments Unit supervisor or element <br />leader. <br /> <br />3. Replacing and/or repairing a member's issued firearm as <br />necessary. <br />4. Establishing and maintaining a biennial preventive maintenance <br />program for all primary firearms. <br /> <br />B. Armorer - The Armorer is responsible for: <br /> <br />1. The mechanical care and maintenance of all Department firearms. <br />2. The biennial maintenance inspections of all Department issued and <br />special firearms. <br />3. Annual maintenance inspections of all personally owned weapons <br />authorized for use as a secondary or special weapon while on- <br />duty. <br /> <br />
