PURPOSE <br /> <br />The purpose of this directive is to establish policy and procedures for the use of <br />in-car mobile recording equipment installed in Field Operations Vehicles. <br /> <br />II. POLICY <br /> <br />The policy of the Surprise Police Department is to use in-car mobile data <br />recording equipment to assist in documenting traffic enforcement, DUI <br />enforcement, training of officers and other law enforcement activities. The use of <br />such equipment will be limited to trained employees. Proper use and <br />maintenance of the equipment is essential to ensure operational readiness and <br />proper functioning of the equipment. <br /> <br />III. DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />A. MDVR – Mobile Digital Video Recorder equipment. <br />B. MDVR Download Station – The location at the Police Department where <br />digitized video is downloaded from the vehicle computer to the MVDR <br />server. <br />C. MDVR Server – The computer located at the Police Department where <br />the digital images are stored. <br /> <br />IV. PROCEDURES <br /> <br />A. Training <br /> <br />1. All officers will receive training on the in-car MDVR prior to <br />operating the equipment. <br />2. Training will include, but is not be limited to: <br /> <br />a. MDVR policy <br />b. Transferring/downloading digital data files <br />c. Voice recording equipment <br />d. Camera equipment care and maintenance <br />e. Various aspects of the equipment use and capabilities <br /> <br />B. Operation <br /> <br />1. At the beginning and end of each shift, if the vehicle is so <br /> <br />
