POLICY <br /> <br />The policy of Surprise Police Department is to have a Crime Analysis Unit that is <br />responsible for the collection, collation, analysis and dissemination of analyzed <br />crime information to the administrative and operational components of the <br />Department in a current and useful format. <br /> <br />II. PROCEDURES <br /> <br />A. Structure and Responsibility <br /> <br />The Crime Analysis Unit is assigned to the Administrative Services <br />Division. Crime Analysis shall provide timely, useful information to aid <br />operational personnel in meeting their tactical crime control and <br />prevention objectives. Crime data shall be collated and analyzed so that <br />the Crime Analysis Unit can assist the Department through its <br />performance of the following functions: <br /> <br />1. Identification of evolving or existing crime patterns and series. <br />2. Forecasting future crime occurrences. <br />3. Initiation of target profile analysis. <br />4. Provision of investigative leads. <br />5. Provision of support data to community policing and crime <br />prevention programs. <br />6. Assisting in case clearance process. <br /> <br />B. Data Collection <br /> <br />1. Source documents from which Crime Analysis data elements are <br />extracted include: <br /> <br />a. Incident Reports (IR) <br />b. Traffic Accident Reports <br />c. Citations, Teletypes <br />d. Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) <br />e. Records Management System (RMS) data <br />f. Property Impounds <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
